The rules, in plain words

What happens with your account in the moments that matter. No small print.

Your address

Once you delete your account, your address isn't given to someone else. It only becomes free again if we release it ourselves.

Storage running out

We warn you at 80, 95 and 100 percent. Just over the limit you can't send; a bit further, new mail waits with the sender until you've made room. After 30 days over, the account locks until you e-mail support. Your mail is kept.

Not signing in for a while

A free account that isn't used for 6 months is marked inactive, but it keeps receiving mail. Signing in again is all it takes.

Breaking the rules

If an account sends spam or phishing, it's disabled and you're told why. Write to us and a person answers within 48 hours.

Leaving

Deleting your account waits 30 days, in case you change your mind. After that everything is deleted for good, and we send one last mail to your recovery or billing address to confirm it.
